From a meteorological point of view, the presence of lightning is what defines a thunderstorm and distinguishes it from a simple cloud.
Our Lightning Certificate can be purchased from our online shop for any site covered by our European lightning detection network. It provides evidence, recognised by insurance companies and the courts, that lightning activity has been detected within a 20 km radius of the chosen site of interest, whether it has touched the ground (cloud-to-ground) or not (intra-cloud).
Where activity has been detected, the total number of flashes is also provided, giving an indication of the severity of the storm.
This Lightning Certificate takes the form of a signed and stamped PDF report that can be downloaded immediately after purchasing online.
How does it work?
- On the online purchase interface, choose your place of interest by entering its address or geographical coordinates.
- Then select the start date of the period of interest and the duration of the study (24h, 48h or 72h*).
- You will then immediately receive your Lightning Certificate in PDF format.
- You can also access the invoice immediately from your Subscriber Area (‘My online purchases’ section).
If a more detailed analysis is required (detailed lightning data, different radius or period, etc.), our Lightning Data Survey are available for purchase online or by contacting our sales department.
*Please note! The study period for the Lightning Certificate is carried out over a fixed daily time slot, from midnight to midnight.
